Queer and Trans Adult Coping Skills Class

In DBT Skills Classes, you will have the opportunity to learn and practice skills that you can use to regulate emotions and behaviors, enhance mood, improve relationships and engage in effective problem solving and communication.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE CLASSES:

1. This is not a therapy group, and it does not replace the need for therapy. It is recommended that class members have a therapist or a support person to help them process and implement these skills. It is recommend you practice the skills taught outside of class to get the most out of it, but Heather will not be available to class members for skills support outside of class times. Because this is class is not therapy, discussions of individual problems or life-threatening behaviors such as suicide and self-harm are not allowed. Only limited discussion of other potentially triggering topics such as drug or alcohol use, domestic violence, abuse, etc will be allowed.

2. Classes will meet at RDC on Mondays @ 5:30PM-7:00PM. Classes are open to people ages 18+.

3. You must have an orientation chat with Heather before beginning the class so that she can explain all the particulars and make sure the skills class will be a good fit for your needs.

4. Cost for each class is a suggested donation of $5 per class to $25 per class. Your donation amount is up to you. Heather will give 50% of each class’ donations to Rose Dynasty Center.

5. Maximum enrollment in the class is 8 participants. If you must miss 3 or more classes during one skills module (most modules run for 6-8 weeks), your seat in the class will be forfeited so that someone on the waiting list can join the class.

6. New or returning class members will be able to join between skills modules as seats are available. When you complete all the skills modules, you may be invited to continue in the class if you’d like to and if there are not new class members waiting to join.
   The upcoming dates to start the class are:
   – March 10, 2025
   – May 5, 2025
   – June 30, 2025
   – August 25, 2025
